How safe is it to travel through Malaysia alone?

I am a 61 year old woman, planning a trip to Singapore for the 70th anniversary of the fall of Singapore next February, followed by travel by train/bus to Penang, via Malacca and Negeri Sembilan and other places connected to my Grandfather, before going over to Sumatra to visit the sites of the Pakan Baroe railway, where my Father was a prisoner of war. My husband is unsure whether he can accompany me. How safe/wise would it be to go it alone?How safe is it to travel through Malaysia alone?Malaysia is pretty safe to travel around. Just be careful and if you have any relatives or friends there, best to also let them know that you're coming so that you can catch up with them while you're making your way up north.
