I'm going to visit my parents with my daughter who is one month old.
I understand i don't have to buy a ticket for her. I'm scared of how hard it is going to be to travel with her.
What things can i not bring?
Can you bring formula?
Is it safe for them to fly this young? What is the best way to travel with a one month old?It is safe and super duper easy! Bring her stroller with a carseat that attaches. When you go to the gate ask if they have any open unsold seats I have traveled with my son and always got an open seat next to me. If they do they will change your seat next to it and allow you to take the carrier on. If not you can park the stuff at the door and they will put it on the plane and take it off at your destination for you to pick up at the same spot. I would recommend aquiring a pillow (or two!) so that you can situation her on your lap so you will both be comfy and you don't have to support her with your arms the whole time. You can take formula you just have to notify them that it is formula. You can't take water though so buy that after security. I had no problem traveling with my son (twice while he was on formula). Just take your empty bottles and your can of formula! Be prepared to have a bottle in her mouth at take off and landing. What is the best way to travel with a one month old?
Hi! flew with my son when he was this age, it is totally safe. It wasn't hard at all- he slept the whole time. It is best to try to time a feeding for when you are taking off so that her ears don't pop. If she isn't hungry at that time, a binky would be good too- also for landing.
You can bring the formula- I wasn't sure about the water for the formula so when I was inside the terminal I bought bottled water.
Most airlines let you check the stroller at the gate, so even if your stroller consists of your car seat that snaps in, that is ok too. You can keep them in it until you board.
Good luck! :)What is the best way to travel with a one month old? You've got a lot of good answers, but I want to add my little bit of advice as well.
Try to get seating near the bulkhead, and ask if they have a bassinet. Especially if it's a longer flight, they do have bassinets they can set up for a baby that little so they can stretch out and rest better.
With my 3 month old (well, he'll be 3 when we fly) we're going to be putting him in his carrier (Ergo, not the infant car seat) and carrying him like that. He'll likely relax, and if he wants he can be pulled out and relax on daddy that way. (I'll be busy with the 2 year old...)What is the best way to travel with a one month old?
It is safe for them to fly young but best to have your Dr. confirm. check out www.mommynuggets.com for tips on travelling with kids. Type Travelling in the search. Best to take your own things so that you use all products you are used to.What is the best way to travel with a one month old?Travelling a baby that young can actually be easier than travelling with a squirmy, grabby older baby that is trying to crawl away and put everything in their mouth lol. At a month old she is probably perfectly content sleeping on your lap, on your shoulder or wherever, meaning she won't be too bothered by being on the plane.
Yes you can bring formula premixed on the plane. Breast milk, formula, baby food an juice are exempt from the 3oz rule, but you have to tell the person at the security checkpoint that you have it and they will inspect it by hand.
However, the bottle coolers with the ice packs are not permitted because the ice packs contain gel. Look for a cooler bag that has built-in cooling. I know for a fact the Playtex Fridge-to-Go bottle bag is TSA-approved. I will be using one of these for a flight on Wednesday.
Any other baby items are still subject to the 3-1-1 rule (3oz, 1 bag, 1qt size). This means anything like diaper rash cream, teething gel etc would have to be in a travel-sized tube.
Bring a pacifier, even if your baby doesn't normally use one. When the plane is taking off and landing, sucking will pop baby's ears and relieve the pain from the pressure change. You could also offer a bottle, but in case baby isn't hungry at the time, it's worth having the pacifier.
