I love traveling all over the world and love working with the general public. I have worked as a travel agent and a representative for overseas travel companies but want to try something different. I also get lots of blind applications from people wanting to be tour guides, and work at my company. I know it's not the easiest thing to break into if you don't have the experience (especially in this economy when travelers are cutting back).



A couple of things that would help get started: (a) If you can gain some experience guiding in an area you already know a lot about, you can build experience there, then branch out (b) There are schools that specialize in tour guide training, and completing those courses can give you some added credibility.
