When an object in simple harmonic motion is at its maximum displacement, what quantity is also at a maximum?

Which one of the following quantities is at a maximum when an object in simple harmonic motion is at its maximum displacement?

- speed

-acceleration

-kinetic energy

-frequency

It cant be speed because at its maximum wouldn't speed be zero, and it cant be acceleration either. Help is appreciated. Potential energy would be pretty high at its maximum displacement but its not an optionWhen an object in simple harmonic motion is at its maximum displacement, what quantity is also at a maximum? You're right, potential energy is at its maximum when displacement is maxed out. There is another correct answer.

HINT: what is the acceleration of a ball tossed in the air when it is at its maximum height? It's g (-9.8 m/s^2), even though it's at rest at that instant. Now with simple harmonic motion, the acceleration isn't constant like it is with projectile motion but I mention it to show acceleration can be nonzero when velocity is zero.

When the displacement is at its maximum, so is the restoring force. That's true whether it's a pendulum (restoring force = gravity), a spring (restoring force = spring force), or something else. Because F = ma, when the restoring force is maximized, so is acceleration. When an object in simple harmonic motion is at its maximum displacement, what quantity is also at a maximum?I'm with you. I'd vote for potential energy if it were on the list.
