What is a motion for alternative service?

received motion for alternative service taped to my front door and a photo radar ticket attached. the first time I received the photo radar ticket in the mail I ignored it. does taping it to my door constitute being served? What is a motion for alternative service?Yep. It does. You should consider yourself served.

The motion to serve via alternative service was a request to the judge to serve the ticket in a way other than personal service. Frankly, the service by mail could/should have been valid service - but apparently your state is more particular than most. What is a motion for alternative service? It is a motion to the court asking them to accept service by 'other' than the normal methods allowed in your State.

In "most" States service by first class mail is legal service, so you would have been legally served by the copy you got in the mail.

However, if your address is known, and you ignored the mailing, it's reasonable for the ticketing agency to ask the court to allow them to serve you by posting a copy on your door.
