My Pit Bull gets motion sickness in the car everytime we take her anywhere. Now she is riding with my husband, who drives an 18 wheeler, and has gotten sick several times in the last two days in his truck. My dog gets car sick. His trainer suggested that we do short rides - no more than a couple miles. And work up gradually to longer trips. We have had success with the couple miles and are thrilled. I know what you are going through. We had been taking a bucket in the car with us (on the weekends we go to our mountain house that is 50 miles away). By the time we would get to our destination our poodle that is 70 pounds would be exhausted and so would we. I hate to get the motion sickness pills because I'm afraid it will make him sleepy and we go there to have our dogs run and play. But throwing up is tiring also, so if we can't work it out the way the trainer suggested then we will use the meds. You can also go with acepromazine or diazepam among others, but these you will have to obtain from your veterinarian.
