What is the best way to travel from Manhattan to Baltimore by train?

We are making our first trip to NYC and will leave there to visit family in Maryland. The only rail travel that we can find is on Amtrack. Is there a better way? Is there a way better than by rail? What is the best way to travel from Manhattan to Baltimore by train? There's air, there's rail, there's the bus, there's driving up I-95.

Personally, if I wasn't driving, I'd probably elect Amtrak. Seems easy, direct, affordable. What is the best way to travel from Manhattan to Baltimore by train?
Amtrak is not only the only practical way, its probably the cheapest. You MIGHT save a few bucks by taking a greyhound bus, but trust me, its not worth it at all. I have taken Greyhound before and it's not only affordable but it's not as bad as you might think. Some stations in Maryland have direct routes from New York's Port Authority and it takes around four hours depending on exactly where you are going.

Amtrak is expensive, but somewhat faster and somewhat more convenient, but it's really a toss-up. Just make sure you get to the bus or train station well in advance of your departure time. There is heavy security at the Amtrak station, and there are lots of people in line at the Greyhound station, plus it's hard to find your way around the Port Authority station in New York. What is the best way to travel from Manhattan to Baltimore by train?Amtrak Metroliner, all the way.
