What is the cheapest way to travel abroad in high school?

I am going to be a Junior in August and I didn't have enough money to go on any of the teen travel programs I have found online... I am getting a new job soon and I will save as much of it as possible for next summer, but I would like to know everyone's opinion on this from experience and whatnot.
